In Book Three of the Seeds of Christianity Series the Church at Antioch Comes into its own. Follow the lives of Rivkah and Shemu'el as they continue to spread the good news in Antioch and beyond. Tensions surface as the number of non-Jewish converts rises in Antioch. Barnabus brings Paul, but some oppose his new role.
Sha'oul, now renamed Paul, leaves on his first missionary journey accompanied by Barnabus and Yohan Markus. This saga of the Early Church takes a troubling turn when their youngest son adopts a pagan lifestyle. Antioch trembles in the grip of a ruthless serial killer. While Pavlos roams the streets looking for him, Shemu'el fears he already knows the killer's identity. Meanwhile in Rome, the Emperor Claudius tires of the ongoing conflict between the Christians and the Jews. Believing Christianity to be a sect of Judaism, he expels all Jews from Rome. Simon Petros is forced to leave his flock behind as he carries the Gospel to new lands and peoples. When all seems lost, Atticus is promoted to the office of Tribunus Medicus Militum, placing him in command of all of the army's medical corps.
He and his family travel to Rome to fill the gap left by Simon Petros' departure. The beloved disciple, Yohan, has relocated to Ephesus for Miryam's protection. He brings Shemu'el Evodius a new convert named Ignatius and asks him to mentor the young man. Though surrounded by chaos, the church in Antioch continues to grow in size and influence under Evodius' competent leadership.

In this third book in the "Seeds of Christianity" series, 'Apostle', we continue to follow Lewis' characters, She'muel and Rivkah, as they settle into roles of servant leadership in the Antioch church. Through their eyes and social circles, Lewis gives the reader a true-to-life description of what could have happened in local churches during the times of Paul's first and second missionary journeys. We come to understand trade routes, intercultural marriage (i.e., Jewish-background Christian marrying Pagan-background Christian), Roman culture, the lascivious nature of free sexuality during the times, and what challenges the early church faced as it grew beyond its historical Judaical roots. In a truly incredible way, Lewis masterfully provides rich historical context without sacrificing a highly engaging fictional narrative.Lewis has done a wonderful job weaving in cultural details, historical facts, and biblical insight into the lives of She'muel, Rivkah, and their children. I can't wait to get started on book 4, but wanted to write this review while it was fresh on my mind. Read this book! Read the series! I highly recommend it.

Apostle The Seeds of Christianity Book 3 (Audible Audio Edition) E G Lewis Ruth Elsbree Cape Arago Press Books Reviews
You don't have to be "religious" or even "Born Again" to totally enjoy this series. The back ground research was inspiring. The characters became so real I found myself getting personally involved in each book. No one book of the "Seeds of Christianity" Witness, Disciple, Apostle or Martyr were any better or worse than the previous books. Each book was a *****+ I have to admit that at first I had my doubts about these books but took a chance because they were inexpensive enough not to like. I had read E.G.Lewis before and knew he was a good writer. Well after reading these books I was wrong- he is a great writer. I liked these books soooo much I plan to re-read them again in the future
I have read all four of theis series and have enjoyed them immensely. I'm amazed at the amount of research that Mr. Lewis has done and his application to a story of the early Christians. I did find (in the version) quite a few editorial errors and typos which were not prevalent in the other three books. Also, Mr. Lewis seems to go chasing rabbits in a few instances where he writes in great detail of a topic. All in all, however, I give all four books a five star rating for an exceptional work.
This series of books written by Mr. Lewis is descriptive enough to carry the reader back in time to the ancient lands of Jesus and his contemporaries and disciples. Having a thorough knowledge of the King James version of the Bible myself, I was delighted to learn even more details of this time and place from someone who is not only a scholar, but who also has a talent for weaving a fictional tale through historical facts. The story is engaging, and the characters interesting enough to follow throughout the series. Well done.
This book highlights the missions of Paul in the context of the fictionalized story of the family of the second bishop of Rome. This family is featured in the other books of "The Seeds of Christianity". The background of these books is the Biblical book of Acts. The author describes the life and times of Acts in a very realistic manner. All the characters, real and fictional, are brought to life in a fascinating manner so that the reader really cares about them. I was sorry when I finished the last book of the series, "Martyr" and had to say goodbye to them. Any reader who enjoys "Biblical fiction" novels will find this series a really good read.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the series in spite of the continuous errors that disrupt the story line....Not historical errors but typo and editing errors. In this third book of the series there is an en-
tire chapter omitted and one chapter repeated twice. I cannot find words to express how this has impacted my whole experience. Whoever prepared this book for kindle needs to be shot !!!
I first bought "Witness" for my and liked it so much that I bought the book for our church library. The book has made the rounds of many of our church members and all reviews have been positive. Because it follows the bible closely, you know what's coming but viewing it from the eyes of a girl who was there, is a different perspective, makes it all very personal. My review also covers the other books in the series, Disciple, Apostle, and Martyr. Everyone needs to read these books, especially if you are a Bible lover or a Bible doubter.
I love this series!
After reading the first, book I did something I almost never do. I immediately bought and downloaded the other three books in the series. I had picked up Witness when it was free, and I have almost 500 unread books in my . Yet, I hurried to pay full price (albeit an extremely reasonable price) for three more books and read them right away.
In this book, I felt like I was right there in Antioch with the great leaders and ordinary Christians of the early Church.
Although there were editing errors, especially homonyms, they did not take away from the reading experience.
I highly recommend this entire series to anyone who enjoys a good story well-told and who likes to learn about the early days of Christianity.
